Alkaloid

Skopje's Avtokomanda district knows the pharmaceutical plant behind Alkaloid before it knows the handball club that carries its name. ALKALOID AD put the club together in July 2021, and within a year the team had already won the Macedonian First League and forced its way into the top division.

In the 2024–25 EHF European Cup final, Alkaloid beat AEK Athens 29–25 in the first leg; the return match in Skopje never happened, called off after AEK's fans were turned away at the gate and the Greek players refused to take the court. The EHF handed Alkaloid the tie by forfeit, and the trophy with it — the first EHF European Cup won by a Macedonian club, and only the third European title any club from the country has taken.

Kiril Lazarov coaches the side, and the win in Athens closed a circle for him: he had already lifted a European trophy as a player, and now had one as a coach too.
