Belgium Women

The Vienna International Women's Sixes Tournament is the one title Belgium have taken and kept unbeaten from start to finish. Reaching the final of the European Championship Division Two Twenty20 back in 2011, where Austria beat them.

The team itself grew out of an approach the Belgian Cricket Federation made to the Royal Brussels Cricket Club in 2011. It took until 2013 for that side to play a tournament, in Bologna, and until September 2021 to play its first recognised Women's Twenty20 Internationals.

Shweta Sinha has been the team's leading run-scorer, with 130 runs to her name, while Nicola Thrupp made her mark early, scoring an unbeaten fifty on debut before going on to captain the side. Smriti Kaneria has more recently taken on the captaincy. Belgium have built a run of bilateral series against Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Portugal, but did not concede either or reaching Division One of the European Championship.

Matches are played at the Royal Brussels Cricket Club ground in Lasne, near Waterloo, with room for 1,500 spectators. The next matches against Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Portugal remain the ground on which any further progress up the European table will have to be made.
