Bera Bera Women

The Polideportivo José A. Gasca holds 2,800 people. San Sebastián's handball team plays there since the section was formed in 1983 inside the Sociedad Cultural Recreativa Deportiva Bidebieta.

The name Bera Bera came later. In 1998, with the handball side struggling financially, it merged with the Bera Bera Rugby Taldea, taking the rugby club's black and orange colours along with its name. Since 1990 it has never left the top division.

What followed the merger is a run without real parallel in Spanish women's handball. Ten Liga Guerreras Iberdrola titles, ten Copa de la Reina wins, ten Supercopa de España trophies — the most recent Copa de la Reina came in 2026. Europe has been less kind; the club's best continental run ended at the semi-final stage of the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 2007-08. Domestically there is little left to prove, and the closest thing to genuine tension comes against Zuazo Barakaldo in the Basque derby.

Among those who wore the shirt through the club's rise, Ana Temprano is remembered specifically for 2014, when she was named MVP of the Copa de la Reina final between the posts.
