Poços de Caldas, a spa town in Minas Gerais, is treated in Brazilian cricket as the sport's capital, and the team's training base there, the Centro de Treinamento de Cricket, is the reason. It was reinaugurated in October 2024 with artificial turf and a gym. The Poços Oval next to it holds 800. Matches also go to the São Fernando Polo and Cricket Club in Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, which holds 1,000.

The women's side played its first international, against Argentina, in 2007. Equipment was scarce for years. Players took the field in shirts donated by English clubs such as Somerset and Warwickshire, and white remains the colour for international fixtures. In 2020 Brazil's women received professional central contracts, ahead of the men's team. Cricket Brasil, the governing body, had been an International Cricket Council (ICC) affiliate since 2002 and became an associate member in 2017.

The South American Women's Championship has been the main measure of the team's standing. Brazil won it in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2024, and lost the 2022 final as runners-up. The Four-Nation Women's Series in 2026 was the first title of that kind outside the continent. Liam Cook coaches the squad, and Carolina Nascimento captains it. Roberta Moretti Avery held the captaincy before her.

The player who has drawn most attention in 2026 is the all-rounder Laura Cardoso. In April she took nine wickets in a single innings.
