Chile Women

Chile's best result came in 2018, when the women reached the final of the South American Cricket Championship and lost to Brazil by 92 runs. Runner-up is still the highest place they have taken. They finished third in 2010, 2015, 2019 and 2023.

The side, known as Las Loicas, was put together in 2010 for the first women's edition of that tournament. Its roots go back to 2001, when Cricket Chile started a programme called "Democratización del deporte" and took the game into schools in Santiago, Viña del Mar and Chillán, aiming to break the sport's ties to the elite.

The 2018 campaign also produced the individual figures the team still points to. Jessica Miranda, a fast bowler, took 4/11 against Mexico, and Nicole Conejeros made 30 against Mexico, her highest score. Both came in the same year the International Cricket Council (ICC) gave Twenty20 international status to all matches played by its members after 1 July 2018, and Chile played its first such games that August. Of the 15 they have played since, they have won four.

The team is based in Santiago, where the national association has its headquarters, but it has no ground of its own. Players train in public parks and on borrowed facilities, and they have often paid for international trips themselves. Argentina and Brazil are the regular opponents at the continental championship.
