Bylis

Bylis went into the 1998–99 season as a provincial side with nothing behind it, and came out of that three-year spell in third place in the Superliga, good enough for a run in Europe — the closest the club from Ballsh has come to the top of Albanian football. The Superliga title itself has never followed; Bylis have built their record instead in the lower tiers, winning the Kategoria e Parë four times and the Kategoria e Dytë twice before that. A runners-up finish in the Albanian Cup in 2013 is the nearest they have come to a major trophy.

The club did not start out as Bylis. It was formed in 1972 under the name of the oil-processing enterprise that ran the town, U.P.TH.N., then went through a spell as Ballshi i Ri before the current name was adopted in 1992.

Ballsh itself is a small town built around that oil industry, and its football has a rival close to home in name only: Adriatiku, the opponents in the "Derbi i Ballshit", has since relocated to Durrës, leaving the derby a fixture without a shared postcode.

Home games are played at the Adush Muça Stadium, a ground of modest size — its listed capacity of 2,464 sits below the 5,200 sometimes quoted for it — where 3,000 plastic seats went in during a 2012 renovation. It remains a small ground for a small town, and Ballsh has never asked it to be anything else.
