Coburg 2000

Handball in Coburg used to run on two separate tracks: TV Ketschendorf and TV 48 Coburg had already joined forces as HSG Coburg in 1992, with Coburger Turnerschaft folding in two years later, while TV Neuses built its own side across town.

Coburg won the 2. Handball-Bundesliga in the 2019–20 season and went up to the top flight for the first time in the club's history, a promotion that gave Florian Billek, the club's right wing, a call-up to the German national team during that Bundesliga stint. The route back up had already been proven once before, in 2013–14, when the club won the 3. Handball-Liga South, and once earlier still, in 2006–07, through the Regionalliga South.

Dominic Kelm played more than 300 games for the club across a run that started around 2009.

The HUK-Coburgarena, where the club plays in its yellow and black, holds 3,530.
