In Bergen, the fixture that matters most is the "byderby" against Tertnes HåndballElite, with Åsane IL Håndball as the other rival crossing the city map. Fana has never lifted the Norwegian Handball Cup or the league title, even after reaching the top flight, the REMA 1000-ligaen, in 2018.

What the club has built instead runs through its academy. Christine Karlsen Alver came through that system and stands as the club's all-time top scorer, a mark she backed up by topping the league's scoring charts in 2021/2022.
