Fehervar AV19

Ask a hockey fan in Székesfehérvár why the club wears "19" in its name and they will point to a number retired long before most of the current roster was born: Gábor Ocskay's. The tribute sits inside the nickname AV19 itself.

The club did not start in Székesfehérvár at all. It was founded in 1960 in Budapest as Budapesti Volán SC and only relocated to the city in 1977, taking the name Székesfehérvári Volán SC. What followed was two decades of sponsor rebrandings — Alba Volán, Alba Volán-Riceland, Alba Volán-FeVita, Alba Volánbusz — before the SAPA and then Fehérvár eras settled the name closer to its current form, now Hydro Fehérvár AV19.

Domestically the club has had little competition worth speaking of.

Locally, the fixture that still needling both sets of supporters is against Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák — the rangadó, or hokiderbi.

Kevin Constantine ran the bench from 2021 until 2025. Ted Dent has held the job since, with the team based, as ever, at the 6,000-capacity MET Aréna.
