Goztepe

Karşıyaka sits across İzmir, and whatever the sport, a fixture against them carries weight the league table does not; in handball, Göztepe's rise gave that old city rivalry a new court to play out on. The department itself is young against the parent club's 1925 origins, dating to 2002, and for a decade it worked through the lower tiers before the 2014-2015 season, when the men's team won the First League and reached the Turkish Cup final, losing to Beşiktaş. Promotion followed, putting Göztepe in the Süper Lig for the first time.

They play as the Uçan Adamlar — the Flying Men — in red and yellow, colours carried over from the football side. Home games are shared between the Bornova Belediyesi Atatürk Spor Kompleksi and smaller halls around the city, none of them built with a handball crowd specifically in mind; the Bornova venue holds around 2,500, more than the team has needed for most of its history.

İdris Tan is the name attached to the men's team's longest service, with 90 appearances for the club. The women's side, by contrast, has almost no history to draw on yet: it only joined the Turkish Women's Handball Super League for the 2025-2026 season, starting from a position the men's team took over a decade to reach.
