Halmstad

Halmstad, a city on Sweden's Kattegat coast, has followed a club skating under one name or another since 1967, when Halmstads HK first took to the ice. It became Halmstad Hammers HC in 1997, reached the promotion playoffs for Elitserien in 1976-77 before losing to Huddinge IK, and climbed into Allsvenskan in 2001. That club went bankrupt on 15 November 2005 while still playing in the second tier, and a new senior side was assembled the following year under the name Halmstad HF, reclaiming the Hammers name in 2017.

The Hammers wear navy blue and red, and their supporters go by the name Sledgehammers. Marcus Borgh's name carries the most weight in the club's own history: 580 appearances before he retired. Victor Löfstedt is remembered from the 2008-09 season, when the rebuilt club won promotion to Division 1.

Neither the old club nor its successor has ever lifted a national title. The nearest either came since the rebuild was a runner-up finish in the 2019-20 Hockeyettan playoffs, lost to Väsby IK.
