HC Masheka Mogilev

Masheka spent last season back in Division 1, the tier below the Belarusian Superleague, and the gap to Meshkov Brest and SKA-Minsk at the top has not closed.

The state runs the club, not a private board: it was set up in Mogilev on the initiative of Vladimir Konoplev, then head of the Belarusian Handball Federation, and remains registered as a state sports institution funded through the city. The name comes from Masheka, a robber of Belarusian legend said to have protected the poor and to be tied to the town's own founding, since 'Mogilev' derives from the word for grave.

Three bronze medals in the national championship, in 2008, 2010 and 2020, mark the club's best spell, alongside a runners-up finish in the Belarusian Cup in its first season and a Cup bronze in 2019.

Vadim Kotau captained the side for years in goal before moving on to Maccabi Rehovot, and Andrei Klimovets wore the shirt in 2007–2008 having already won the world title with Belarus. The academy, the SDYUSSHOR 'Masheka', has taken in players from age seven since 2015.

Home games are played at the Olimpiets sports complex, 1,300 seats in blue and black, in a city with no rival left to fill the other end.
