Kolstad

Kolstad Arena seats 2,500, but when the fixture list turns serious — a Champions League night, a domestic final — the club moves across town to Trondheim Spektrum, where the gallery holds close to 9,000.

The club grew out of Kolstad Idrettslag, a multi-sports outfit, its handball section formed on 5 October 1972. The senior men's side only became its own entity in 2005.

That changed in the early 2020s. Kolstad won the Norwegian Championship three seasons running, 2022/23 through 2024/25, and added the Norwegian Cup in the last two of those years. In 2022/23 and again in 2023/24 they took the league, the cup and the playoffs in the same season — the first Norwegian club to manage the treble twice in succession. Elverum Håndball has been the team standing in the way in most of those finals, the rivalry that now defines the top of the table.

Sander Sagosen's arrival from THW Kiel for the 2023/24 season was the clearest sign of the club's new ambition. He left again in early 2025, for Aalborg Håndbold, with the club's finances unable to sustain the wage that had brought him there. Sørsia, the supporters' club, watched a treble built.
