Nicolai Daling spent his best seasons in the Haukelandshallen before leaving for HSV Hamburg in 2026, finishing his time in Bergen as the league's top scorer.

The elite men's side broke away from the parent club in 2010 to stand on its own as FyllingenBergen, and it was under that name that the club won the Norwegian Cup in both 2012 and 2013. The league title came earlier and in two different guises: as Fyllingen Håndball in 2008/09, then as FyllingenBergen the following season. A further rename arrived on 18 August 2021, when the club settled on Idrettslag Bergen Håndball, the identity it competes under now in the REMA 1000-ligaen.

Vidar Gjesdal belongs to that older story: he played for Fyllingen from 1999 to 2005 and stayed on afterwards as coach.
