SC Langenthal built its identity in the second tier. Promoted in 2002 after taking the Regio League amateur title, the club spent two decades in what became the Swiss League, winning the championship in 2012, 2017 and 2019. The 2012 and 2017 titles might have carried the Bears into the top-flight National League, but they instead lost the promotion playoff to HC Ambrì-Piotta, and the step up never came.
Stefan Tschannen is the name attached to that whole stretch. He played his entire career at the club, finishing with 722 games and 866 points.
After the 2022–23 season SC Langenthal stepped back from professional hockey altogether, dropping to the third-tier MyHockey League. The Schoren, holding just over 4,000, remains the club's ground either way, blue, white and red still the colours on the ice for both.
