DHK Zora Olomouc measure themselves against HC Zlín and SHK Veselí nad Moravou, both fixtures billed as a Moravian derby and treated in Olomouc as the ones worth winning even in a season with little else at stake. The club's own strength has long come from producing rather than buying: close to nine in ten players in the first team have come through the academy, and the club built its reputation on that pipeline rather than on transfer fees.

Lucie Fabíková is the name attached to that approach. She came through the Olomouc youth system, won the domestic title with the club twice, in 2003 and 2004, was named the Czech Republic's Handball Player of the Year three times and went on to earn 83 caps for the national team. She left, as academy graduates from Olomouc tend to, and then came back — in 2023, as head coach.

The championships themselves belong mostly to the 2000s: titles in 2003, 2004 and 2008, with the club settling more often since into the bronze places that have marked its recent domestic record. The one Czechoslovak title, from 1967, sits apart from that, a mark of an era before the country split into separate leagues. A Czech Cup final appearance in 2020 ended in defeat to DHK Baník Most, a club that has also drawn talent away from Olomouc's academy over the years, Natálie Kuxová among them.

Founded in 1919, Zora play in blue and white and are known locally by the same nickname, worn with the affectionate feminine ending Zoračky. Home games are played at the Sportovní hala inside the Andrův stadion complex, a ground that holds 600 — a small enough number that a full house in Olomouc still counts as an event rather than an expectation.
