DHC Plzen Women

The 2021/2022 season brought Pilsen's handball club its first Czech Championship, sealed after the team had finished the regular season only second in the MOL Liga table and had to fight through the play-offs to take the national title. That same year the club's youth side won its own Czech Championship, the second youth title in the club's history after 2015/2016.

DHC Plzeň grew out of handball activity in the city that had already been running since 1986 under TJ Rozvoj Plzeň, before the club was refounded as an independent entity in 1998. Since then it has built its senior programme around players who came through that youth pipeline, among them Julie Franková and Dominika Zachová, both of whom went on to represent the Czech national team.

The championship win opened the door to Europe, and in 2022/2023 DHC Plzeň made their debut in the EHF European Cup. They got past the first hurdle but were eliminated in the second preliminary round by LC Brühl St. Gallen, going down 52:58 on aggregate. The club's best run in the Czech Cup ended in the round of 16 in 2024/2025.

Domestically, the team that matters most is Házená Kynžvart, the former Baník Most. Games between the two are known in the Czech Republic as the West Bohemian derby.
