The Mestská športová hala Šaľa holds two thousand people. That is the name the town uses for its handball team, a nod to Duslo Šaľa, the chemical works whose sponsorship has followed the club since it took shape in 1943.

For most of the 1990s the hall in Šaľa was the last place a rival wanted to travel to. Between 1995 and 2002, the club took the Slovak Extraliga title seven times. The Slovak Cup has been kinder still: twelve wins stretched from 1992 to 2026.

Michalovce remain the measure Šaľa are held against, the fixture locals still call the sláger, the blockbuster. Games against HC DAC Dunajská Streda carry a different weight, closer to home, decided as much by geography as by form.

The right back returned to the club across several spells between 1996 and 2011, and went on to become the Slovak national team's all-time leading scorer, a mark that still carries her name in a shirt that, for a long stretch, was also this one.
