Olten

That season closed a run in which Olten had gone up to the National League A three times, in 1985, 1988 and 1993, and been sent back down each time before the club could put down roots there. It has stayed in the Swiss League ever since.

The club began life on 4 February 1934 as the ice hockey department of Eisclub Olten, splitting off from figure skating in 1946 to become Eishockey Club Olten. By 2000, Swiss Ice Hockey Federation rules and the club's own finances pushed the first team into a separate company, EHCO AG, leaving the original association to run the youth setup.

More recently, NHL prospects Mason McTavish and Brennan Othmann both passed through the roster in the 2020-21 season before moving on.

For decades the fixture against SC Langenthal carried the local weight, played out as the Aargau-Solothurn derby, until Langenthal withdrew from professional hockey in 2023 and took the rivalry with it.
