STS Sanok started life in 1958 as RKS Sanoczanka, then passed through half a dozen names — ZKS Stal Sanok, STS Sanok, SKH Sanok, KH Sanok, Ciarko KH Sanok, Ciarko PBS Bank KH Sanok. The club could not raise a team for the 2016/17 Polish Hockey League season and spent the following two years playing across the border in the Slovak second division. A fresh legal entity, STS Sanok sp. z o.o., was set up in 2020 to bring the club home to Polish hockey.

The Polish Hockey League title came in 2011/12 and again in 2013/14, bracketed by Polish Cup wins in the same two opening seasons and cup final appearances in three of the next four years.
