Sarrebourg

Sami Douchet arrived from Grand Nancy in 2017 and has since become the club's all-time top scorer.

What followed had little to do with a trophy. The 2019–2020 Nationale 1 season stopped mid-table because of the pandemic, with Sarrebourg sitting fifth, and the club still went up: as the second eligible team under the Voie d'Accès au Professionnalisme system, behind Angers, it took the place in Proligue for 2020–2021. No other town that small has reached a professional handball division in France.

Goalkeeper Vincent Lagrange, who joined the year before that promotion, has been part of the side through the step up in class. The Coupe de France has brought little beyond the last 32, reached in 2017–2018 and again in the 2026–2027 competition, and there are no senior titles to point to — the honours belong to the youth teams instead. Marius Randriantseheno's path says something about the place: he came through the academy, captained the side, left for Nancy, and came back, and matches against Nancy are still called the derby lorrain.

Games are played at the Centre Sportif Pierre de Coubertin, in front of 538 seats. In 2024 the club set up a Société Coopérative d'Intérêt Collectif to run the professional team.
