Massy Essonne HB

The club began as the handball section of Massy Athlétic Sport in 1962. It carried that name for three decades before a merger with the sports club of the Ministry of Finance reshaped it in 1992, bringing in higher-level players and money the section had not had before. The renamed side, Massy 91 Finances, won the D2 title the following season and earned promotion to the top flight. In 1996 it took the name it still carries, Massy Essonne Handball.

Gilles Desgrolard presided over the club for 32 years, from 1972 to 2017. Massy reached the Coupe de France semi-finals in 1997–98, falling to Spacer's Toulouse, and its best league finish came in the Starligue at sixth place. Promotion back to the top flight in 2017 lasted one season: financial difficulties and problems with its infrastructure forced an administrative relegation back to Proligue in 2018.

Olivier Girault played for Massy between 1995 and 1998 before going on to captain the French national team and win Olympic gold; Denis Tristant, on the roster from 1992 to 1997, later took Olympic bronze. Johann Caron came up through the club's own ranks and wore the captain's armband for 17 years. Massy now plays in Proligue.
