SG Zürich

GC Amicitia Zürich came together on 23 August 2010, when the handball section of Grasshopper Club Zürich merged with ZMC Amicitia Zürich, a club that had already been playing since 1962. Only the 2022 Swiss Cup was won under the merged club's own name.

The team played its home matches at the Saalsporthalle on Giesshübelstrasse, a hall holding 2,500, and built its sharpest rivalry across town with Pfadi Winterthur, the two sides' meetings known locally as the Zürcher Derby.

The club went by the initials GCA, a shorthand for a name that itself was already a compromise between two older ones. That compromise ran out on 30 June 2025, when GC Amicitia Zürich was dissolved after filing for bankruptcy.
