Sierre HC

HC Sierre spent the spring of 2026 chasing a promotion that ended up just out of reach: they won the Swiss League title, their first second-tier crown since 1968, and still could not move up to the National League because the Patinoire de Graben did not meet the arena standard the top flight demands. Fifty-eight years separated the two championships, and the second one arrived without the reward that usually comes with it.

The years in between were not gentle. In 2013 the club went bankrupt and dropped into the amateur ranks, rebuilding from there match by match until a MySports League title in 2019 brought them back to the Swiss League.

Matches against EHC Visp carry their own weight in the Valais, known there as the Walliser Derby.
