Skofljica

Škofljica sits just south of Ljubljana, and its handball club has spent most of its life shuttling between the second tier and brief spells among the country's best. The team plays as ŠRD Škofljica, in yellow and green, and its history is really the history of promotions and relegations at a small club: a season in the top flight around 1997, another in 2022/2023 that ended in the drop.

The 2024/2025 campaign gave the club its clearest moment. Škofljica won the 1. B Liga and returned to the 1.

For a club without a nickname, without a settled place in the top division, the identity has come from that pattern of climbing back up. The town gave it a school hall to play in and little else, and the team has had to earn its way into the elite league more than once to stay part of the conversation there.
