SMS ZPRP Lublin Women

Before the first team ever took the court, the club had already put a medal on the wall: in November 2022, months after opening, its junior girls squad won the Ogólnopolski Turniej Unii Lubelskiej, with Laura Puchacz named the tournament's best player and Kasia Marciniak finishing as top scorer. For a school still finding its footing, that was the proof of concept.

SMS ZPRP Lublin was announced on 6 May 2022 and took in its first students that autumn, becoming only the second sports school of its kind for girls in Poland, built on the model the Polish Handball Federation had already run for boys in Płock. The idea was to give young Polish handball players a dedicated pathway to the top level rather than leaving that work to individual clubs.

The senior side plays in the second-tier I Liga, still a modest stage compared with the ambitions behind the project. It shares Lublin with MKS Lublin, the city's decorated senior club, twenty-two times Polish champions and winners of the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 2001 — a relationship the school leans on for cooperation rather than competes against, while it saves its rivalry for MKS AZS UMCS Lublin in the league table.

Monika Marzec, a former national team player, took over as head coach in March 2023, working alongside sporting director Izabela Puchacz, another ex-international. The arrangement says something about how tightly the school is wound around Polish handball's existing talent pipeline rather than starting from nothing.

Home matches are played in the gymnasium of the XXX Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. ks. Jana Twardowskiego on Wajdeloty street, a hall built for a school rather than a handball crowd, holding 166 people.
