Sönderjyske Ishockey

Egon Kahl finished his career at Sønderjyske with 373 goals in 470 games, a scoring record that still stands. Kim Lykkeskov played 811 matches here, more than anyone else has worn the shirt. The club itself began as Vojens Ishockey Klub on 5 January 1963, and though the organisation went through the Vojens Lions and IK Sønderjylland before settling into SønderjyskE in 2004, it still counts its championships back to the VIK years — three titles in 1979, 1980 and 1982. Some fans still call the team Løven, a name left over from the Lions years.

The Continental Cup, won in 2020, made Sønderjyske the first Danish club to take a European title. The club dropped into the 1. division for the first time in decades, and the response was immediate rather than gradual: promotion back up in 2023-24, followed in the same season by both the Danish Cup and the Danish Championship. Dan Ceman had captained the side through an earlier pair of titles in 2009 and 2010.

Matches against Esbjerg Energy are billed as the Sydjysk Derby.
