Tanjong Pagar

Tanjong Pagar United disappeared twice and came back twice. In 2020 the club replaced Warriors FC in the Singapore Premier League, restored to the top flight after withdrawing from it six years earlier. The withdrawal itself followed a first collapse in 2004. Between those two failures the club had already been someone else: it started life on 15 April 1974 as Tiong Bahru Constituency Sports Club, entered the S.League in 1996 under that name, and only took the Tanjong Pagar United name in 1998.

The best of it came early. A President's Cup in 1982 and the National League Division I title in 1983 gave the old constituency side its only years at the top before the S.League era began, and 1998 stands as the peak under the new name: the Singapore FA Cup and the Singapore Cup in the same year.

Jurong East Stadium holds 2,700, and the maroon and black have given way on recent kits to white with red trim. The Jaguars, as they are known, measure themselves against Geylang International and Tampines Rovers, though the fixture carries no name of its own — that belongs to the meetings between Geylang and Tampines themselves, the so-called Eastern Derby, a contest Tanjong Pagar watches from outside.

Rajesh Nair took over as chairman in June 2026 from Raymond Tang. The Jaguars are back where the Tiong Bahru Constituency Sports Club started out more than fifty years earlier: trying to stay in Singapore's top division rather than fall out of it again.
