Trimo Trebnje

On penalties, in front of a crowd that barely fills a school gymnasium, Trimo Trebnje beat RK Celje Pivovarna Laško 34:32 to win the Slovenian Supercup in 2026 from a club whose home hall seats 800.

The club started out in 1983 as RK Trebnje. The Municipality of Trebnje took over as main sponsor in 1997, and in 2000 the construction firm Trimo stepped in and gave the club the name it still carries. Locals call the team "Trebanjski levi" — the Lions of Trebnje — and go to matches chanting "Gremo LEVI!"

In 2020 the club opened a dedicated youth facility, the House of Handball Academy, 430 square metres with beds for nine players and its own physiotherapy room, built on a €150,000 investment. Sebastian Skube went on to Celje and Chambéry and 129 caps for Slovenia, his brother Staš played for Vardar and Meshkov Brest, and goalkeeper Klemen Ferlin built a national-team career after leaving. By November 2020, eleven players and staff with Trebnje connections, including head coach Uroš Zorman, were involved with the senior national side at once.

The Slovenian Cup, won in 2024 against RK Slovenj Gradec, remains the club's only outright domestic title.
