National Sports Academy Vasil Levski

The Vasil Levski National Stadium stands in the Studentski Grad district of Sofia, a district named for the university students who once filled its streets. The ground opened on July 5, 1953, built on the site of two earlier pitches, the Yunak Stadium and the Levski Field, which had been demolished in the decades after the war. It was named after the national hero Vasil Levski from the day it opened and has never carried another title. The surface is natural grass, fitted with a heating system during a renovation in 2002, and the pitch runs to the standard 105 by 68 metres. It holds a UEFA Category 4 rating.

It is the home ground of the Bulgaria national football team and the venue for the Bulgarian Cup finals. The capacity is cited at 43,230, though the National Sport Base official site lists 43,358. The highest recorded football attendance was 60,000 for a match against Wales in a UEFA Euro 1996 qualifier on March 29, 1995. The stadium has hosted major concerts, including one by Ed Sheeran in 2024 that drew 60,016 fans. It also held the 1957 EuroBasket final and the 1977 Summer Universiade. In 2019, the stadium was closed to fans for a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier against England due to racist behaviour. A concert by Madonna in 2009 caused significant damage to the pitch.
