Azerbaijan Premier League 2026/27

The Azerbaijan Premier League is the top-tier professional football competition in the country. It sits at Level 1 of the Azerbaijani football pyramid. The competition traces its continuous history to 1992, when the "Top Division" was established following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. In 2007, the league was rebranded as the Azerbaijan Premier League.

The season operates on a triple round-robin system, where each team plays every other team three times. There are no play-offs for the championship title; the team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned champion. The league differs from the First League in status, funding, and the number of teams, as well as the intensity of competition and European stakes.

The key distinction from the Azerbaijan Cup is European qualification. The Premier League winner enters the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round, while the Cup winner enters the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round. If a team wins both, the Europa League spot passes to the league runner-up.

Qarabağ FK is the most successful club, having won 12 titles. The current champions are Sabah FK, who won their first title. Notable records include Kapaz FK's unbeaten 1997–98 season and Nazim Aliyev as the all-time top scorer with 183 goals.
