Safa Baku

The one trophy in the club's cabinet came early, in the 2000–01 season, when Şəfa Baku lifted the Azerbaijan Cup. The manager who took them there is not recorded, but the run lasted only until the middle of the following decade, when money problems forced the club out of the top flight for the 2004–05 season.

That would have been the end of it had the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan not voted, in June 2023, to bring the club back. By the time Elgiz Garamli had the team in 2025–26, Şəfa were strong enough to win the Birinci Dəstə and return to the Azerbaijan Premier League for 2026–27.

MyGroup Holding owns the club, since Şəfa has never had one of its own.

Of the players who wore the shirt before the 2004–05 collapse, Zaur Tagizade top-scored for the club with 16 goals, while Emin Imamaliyev made more appearances than anyone else, 91, and added 15 goals of his own. It was Fuad Musayev, then head of the AFFA, who set the club up in 1998, with Sardar Salmanzade installed as its first chairman.
