The Campeonato Catarinense Segunda Divisão serves as the second tier of professional football within the state of Santa Catarina. Organised by the Federação Catarinense de Futebol, this competition sits directly below the Campeonato Catarinense Série A and above the Série C in the local hierarchy. Within the broader Brazilian football pyramid, it is generally classified as the fourth tier, running parallel to or below the national Campeonato Brasileiro Série D.
The tournament was established in 1986, with the inaugural edition secured by Paysandu. Its identity has shifted over time; it began as the Segunda Divisão, adopted the name Divisão Intermediária in 2004, and reverted to Série B in 2014. One edition, specifically in 1995, was cancelled. The current structure typically features ten teams competing in a single round-robin group stage. The top two finishers progress directly to the semifinals, while sides ranked third through sixth enter an intermediate knockout phase. Both the semifinals and the final are contested over two legs.
Clubs competing in the current season
Blumenau, Caravaggio, Fluminense-SC, Guarani de Palhoça, Hercílio Luz, and Jaraguá form the lineup for the 2026 campaign. Under the regulations for this season, only the champion receives promotion to the Série A, while two teams are relegated to the Série C. Historical success is shared among Marcílio Dias, Inter de Lages, Brusque, and Joinville, each having won the title three times. Carlos Renaux currently holds the title after defeating Camboriú in the 2025 final. Caravaggio claimed the 2024 championship by overcoming Santa Catarina on penalties. Notable past achievements include Criciúma winning the 2022 title while playing in the second tier following relegation, and Kindermann, then known as Caçadorense, securing the 1989 victory.
