About

The FIFA Women's Champions Cup is an annual intercontinental club football tournament organized by FIFA. Officially announced in March 2025 under the initiative of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the competition began its inaugural edition in London from January 28 to February 1, 2026. It operates as the premier global club contest for women’s football in years when the quadrennial FIFA Women's Club World Cup is not held, with that larger event scheduled for 2028.

The tournament features six participants selected through strictly invitational qualification. Each slot is reserved for the reigning champions of one of FIFA’s six confederations: UEFA, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, CAF, AFC, and OFC. Entry requires winning the respective continental club championship, such as the UEFA Women's Champions League or the Copa Libertadores Femenina. There is no promotion or relegation within the tournament structure itself.

The 2026 format utilized a knockout system adapted for varying levels of development across regions. A preliminary round determined two finalists from the AFC, CAF, and OFC champions, who joined the UEFA, CONCACAF, and CONMEBOL representatives in the semi-finals. Arsenal Women defeated Corinthians Women 3-2 in extra time to claim the first title in the final played in London. Gotham FC finished third, while AS FAR Rabat placed fourth.

The next edition is scheduled for Miami in 2027. The competition fills the gap between the quadrennial Club World Cups, ensuring an annual global championship for club teams worldwide.
