Campeonato Pernambucano Série A2 is the second tier of the Pernambuco state football league system in Brazil. Organised by the Federação Pernambucana de Futebol (FPF), it sits directly below the top-flight Série A1 and above the third-tier Série A3. The competition was officially established in 1977, though it was not held from 1978 to 1994. The modern professional era, characterized by clear promotion rules to the first division, began in 1995.
The current format features clubs divided into two groups, playing a home-and-away group stage followed by single-leg knockout semifinals and a final at a neutral venue. The champion earns direct promotion to the Série A1. In recent years, the runner-up has also been promoted. The 2025 champion was Vitória das Tabocas, who defeated América de Pernambuco in a penalty shootout, securing their third title and promotion to the top flight for 2026.
The most successful clubs in the competition's history are Vera Cruz with four titles, Petrolina with three, and Vitória das Tabocas with three. Unlike the Série A1, which provides qualification for national competitions like the Copa do Brasil, Copa do Nordeste, and Série D, the Série A2 serves primarily as a feeder league with no direct access to national cups or the national league pyramid, except through promotion to the state's top tier. This structure ensures that success within the Série A2 is measured solely by advancement to the highest level of regional play rather than performance in broader national tournaments.
