The Campeonato Roraimense stands as the premier football competition in the northern Brazilian state of Roraima. Established in 1946, it operates at the top tier of the regional pyramid and determines the state’s representatives for the national Série D, the Copa do Brasil, and the Copa Verde. It holds the distinction of being the last Brazilian state league to embrace professionalism, a status achieved in 1995. A defining feature of the competition is its isolation within the national structure. Roraima remains the only Brazilian state without an official second division, meaning no promotion or relegation occurs within the state boundaries. This creates a fixed pool of participants, currently numbering eight clubs, including Atlético Roraima, Baré, GAS, Monte Roraima, Náutico RR, and Progresso. The format for the recent season involves a single round-robin group stage followed by a single-match knockout final. In terms of success, Baré leads the historical record with 26 official titles. Atlético Roraima follows closely with 24 victories. São Raimundo-RR has claimed 14 championships, including a run of four consecutive titles between 2020 and 2023. The most recent champion is Grêmio Atlético Sampaio (GAS), who secured their maiden title in 2024. The league is often characterised by its modest scale. It records the lowest average attendance in the country, averaging approximately 50 spectators per match, and has the highest rate of team withdrawals in national competitions. Organizational oversight has passed through three federations since its inception: the Federação Riobranquense de Desportos (1946–1961), the Federação Roraimense de Desportos (1962–1973), and the current body, the Federação Roraimense de Futebol, since 1974. Local competitions in the capital, Boa Vista, predate the official state league, dating back to the 1920s.
