The Latvian Super Cup (Latvijas Superkauss) is a single-match fixture that traditionally opens the domestic football season. Organized by the Latvian Football Federation, the competition pits the winners of the previous season's Virslīga against the Latvian Cup champions. If a club wins the domestic double, the league runner-up takes the Cup winner's place in the final.
The tournament was established in 2013, with the inaugural match decided by Daugava against Skonto. After an initial period, the event was cancelled following the 2014 edition and remained dormant for nearly ten years. It was revived in 2024, returning to an annual calendar in 2025 and 2026. Since its return, Riga FC has claimed two titles, defeating FK Auda in the most recent final in early 2026.
A distinctive element of the modern competition is the relocation of matches to Turkey, specifically the Mardan Sports Complex in 2026, to mitigate harsh winter weather conditions. This logistical choice distinguishes it from other Baltic regional tournaments. While rivals in Estonia and Lithuania have held their super cups since the mid-1990s with established sponsorship deals, the Latvian version remains newer with fewer editions and currently lacks a major title sponsor.
The participating clubs for the current cycle include Auda, Rīgas FS, and Riga FC. Riga FC holds the record for the most victories in the post-revival era, sharing the historical honour of past editions with other clubs. The competition serves as the immediate curtain-raiser for the domestic campaign, typically scheduled for late February or March.
