About

The UAE Super Cup serves as the official domestic super cup of the United Arab Emirates, organized by the United Arab Emirates Football Association (UAE FA). First held in 1990 under the name "Charity Champions Cup," it stands as the oldest super cup in the Gulf region. The tournament sits at the top of the UAE football pyramid, acting as a curtain-raiser for the season. It is contested in a single match between the winners of the previous season's UAE Pro League and the President's Cup. If a team wins the domestic double, the Super Cup is played between that team and the runner-up of the Pro League.

The competition has seen various structural changes over the decades. It evolved from a two-team match to a league system between 1995 and 1996 and adopted a four-team format from 2002 to 2003 before reverting to the two-team format in 2008. Significant gaps in the schedule occurred between 1991 and 1992, 1997 and 2001, and 2004 and 2007. Sponsorship names have changed over time, including the Etisalat Super Cup from 2008 to 2016 and the Arabian Gulf Super Cup from 2017 to 2021. The current iteration is known as the Emaar Super Cup, a title held since 2024.

Shabab Al Ahli is the most successful club with 7 titles. Al Ain follows with 5 wins. Sharjah FC has won the competition 4 times, securing their most recent victory in 2025. Al Jazira holds a single title from 2016. Al Wasl has not won the competition. Sharjah FC claimed the 2025 edition, while Shabab Al Ahli won the 2024 edition. The tournament involves clubs such as Al Ain, Al-Jazira, Sharjah FC, Shabab Al Ahli Dubai, and Al Wasl SC. It remains distinct from the UAE Pro League, which operates as a round-robin league, and the President's Cup, a knockout tournament involving lower divisions.
