When Sharjah FC beat their way to the 2024-25 AFC Champions League Two, the club added a first continental trophy to a collection that already ran to 21 domestic honours. The players call themselves Al Malik — The King — and the Asian run gave that nickname fresh weight outside the Gulf.
Domestically, the record belongs to the UAE President's Cup, where Sharjah have been crowned champions ten times, from 1979 through to back-to-back wins in 2022 and 2023 — more than any other club in the country. The UAE Pro League has come to Sharjah Stadium six times, the first in 1974 and the most recent in 2019, with 1994 also bringing a league and Super Cup double in the same season.
The King's closest rivalries stay close to home: Al Shaab across the city, Ajman up the coast, and Al Wahda and Al Ain whenever a title is on the line. Home games are still played in white, with red and blue as the club's other colours, at Sharjah Stadium, where the crowd tops out at 16,899.
The club itself was founded in 1966, in the emirate whose name it carries.
