About

The UAE Pro League operates as the top tier of Emirati football, established in 1973 as the UAE Football League. It transitioned to a professional structure in 2008, with the Pro League Committee managing operations since February 2007. The league currently features 14 clubs, though the provided roster lists only eight participants: Ajman, Al Ain, Al Ittihad Kalba, Al Khaleej, Al Nasr, and Al Wahda FC.

Seasons follow a double round-robin format, meaning each club plays every opponent twice for a total of 26 matches. The champion is determined solely by points accumulated during this regular season; no playoffs exist for the title. The bottom two teams face automatic relegation to the UAE First Division League, while the top two sides from that division gain automatic promotion. No relegation playoffs are held.

Al Ain FC stands as the most successful club in the competition's history, having secured 15 titles. They also claimed the most recent 2025–26 season championship. Other historically strong performers include Shabab Al Ahli, who have won nine titles, and Al Wasl, with eight championships. Al Wasl was the champion in the 2023–24 season.

A distinguishing feature of this league is its schedule. Unlike many neighboring Asian competitions that play in the summer, the UAE Pro League runs from August or September through May. This winter schedule aligns with European seasons to avoid extreme heat. Commercially, the league is known as the ADNOC Pro League due to sponsorship by the state-owned energy giant. Rules also allow clubs to register up to five foreign players, with a maximum of three in the matchday squad, without requiring an Asian player, which differentiates it from some regional counterparts.
