Sharjah Stadium
The confusion starts with the name. Say Sharjah Stadium in this emirate and half the room will picture a cricket ground — the one a short distance away, opened the same year, with a stand named after Sachin Tendulkar since 2023. The football ground carries no such addition. It has been استاد الشارقة since 1982 and has never been anything else.
That naming trouble runs deeper than trivia. Ask for the address and the mapping services hand you the cricket ground's industrial district, or else a plot in Al Majaz, and the sources do not agree on which is right.
What has changed since 1982 is the fabric. Work was carried out in 2010 and again in 2018, leaving a pitch cut to the standard 105 by 68 metres under natural grass. Capacity settles at 16,899 .
The name held; the address never quite fixed itself. Both facts belong to the same ground.
