The Supercopa de España Femenina is an annual knockout tournament organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). It serves as the Spanish women's super cup, featuring the top teams from the domestic league and cup. The competition sits above the regular league season in terms of prestige for the participating clubs, acting as a season opener, but is distinct from the Copa de la Reina, which is the primary domestic cup competition.

The modern iteration of the tournament was founded in 2020, with the first edition held in January 2020 in Salamanca. This edition marked the official revival of the trophy under the RFEF's direct management, establishing a standardized "Final Four" format. Prior to this, a tournament with the same name was played intermittently between 1997 and 2001. However, these earlier editions are widely considered to have "disputed officiality" or are classified as unofficial by the RFEF and many historical records. The current official lineage recognized by the federation begins with the 2020 edition.

The competition is a single-elimination knockout tournament involving four teams. Qualification is based on sporting merit from the previous season. The four spots are allocated to: the winner of La Liga F, the runner-up of La Liga F, the winner of the Copa de la Reina, and the runner-up of the Copa de la Reina. If a team wins both the league and the cup, the spots reserved for the cup finalists are awarded to the next highest-placed teams in the La Liga F standings to ensure four distinct teams participate.

The tournament is played over a few days at a neutral venue, typically in January, consisting of two semi-finals and one final. FC Barcelona Femení is the most successful club in the modern era. As of the 2024-25 season, Barcelona has won the tournament five times. Atlético Madrid won the second edition in 2021. The venue rotates annually, though some cities have hosted multiple times.

The Supercopa Femenina differs from the Copa de la Reina in several key ways. The Copa de la Reina is a traditional, extensive knockout cup open to dozens of teams from various divisions, running throughout the season with a final in the spring or summer. It is considered a major national trophy with higher prestige. In contrast, the Supercopa is a short, invitational-style tournament featuring only the top four teams from the previous season's league and cup competitions. It is held in January and serves as a season opener.

The tournament is officially known as the Supercopa de España Iberdrola, reflecting the sponsorship agreement with the energy company Iberdrola. Iberdrola has been the title sponsor of Spanish women's football competitions since the reorganization of the women's game in the late 2010s. The sponsorship extends to the Supercopa from its 2020 inception.

As a standalone knockout tournament, the Supercopa Femenina does not have promotion or relegation mechanisms. Participation is strictly determined by results in La Liga F and the Copa de la Reina.
