Youth Viareggio Cup 2026/27

The Youth Viareggio Cup is an independent invitational football tournament held annually in Viareggio, Italy. Officially known as the Torneo di Viareggio or Coppa Carnevale, the event began in 1949 as a local carnival celebration. It was founded by Torquato Bresciani, president of the Centro Giovani Calciatori (CGC) Viareggio, and evolved into a global platform for scouting young talent. Organized by the Sporting Club Centro Giovani Calciatori A.S.D., the competition operates outside the official FIGC league pyramid.

While historically featuring Under-21 and Under-20 teams, the format shifted to Under-18 squads starting in the 2020 edition. The structure typically involves a group stage followed by knockout rounds. Recent editions have expanded to include 24 teams from around the world, with significant participation from Africa and the Americas. The tournament is distinct from domestic youth leagues, serving as a short-duration showcase for emerging players.

AC Milan, Juventus, and Fiorentina are among the most successful clubs, each securing nine titles. Inter Milan follows with eight victories. In 2024, Beyond Limits from Nigeria became the first African team to win the tournament. Genoa claimed the 2025 edition by defeating Fiorentina 1-0. The event has received recognition from UEFA and FIFA. Notable reforms include the age category change to U18 and the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 editions due to the pandemic. The competition often overlaps with domestic league seasons, providing a unique window for international youth football.
