Azam secured a 2-1 victory over Kitayosé in the second round of Ligi Kuu Bara on Wednesday evening. The result maintains their unbeaten start to the campaign while extending Kitayosé's winless run.
I. Nado gave the hosts an early lead with a goal in the eighth minute. Kitayosé responded well and found their equaliser through A. Suleiman just before the half-hour mark. Two yellow cards arrived before the interval, one in the twenty-ninth and another in the fortieth minute.
And here's the thing — the second half opened with a quick response from Azam. Kamisoko restored the home side's advantage in the forty-sixth minute, right at the start of the period. By then Kitayosé had to chase the game, and things worsened when a red card came into play in the seventy-seventh minute.
To be fair, the result was never in doubt after that. Azam sit third with eleven points from five games, three wins and two draws. Kitayosé remain twelfth with just three points, having lost twice and drawn three times without finding the net in any victory.
The visitors had shown resilience in recent fixtures, drawing against DJKT Tanzania and Mbeya City, but this was another defeat to add to their tally. Azam's unbeaten record continues, and they held their nerve through a match that demanded composure in the closing stages.
