Bakken Bears took on Randers Cimbria in the Basketligan on Saturday. The hosts closed out a convincing 103-86 victory at home. It was a match decided early, and Bakken never let the lead slip.
By then, Bakken had already established their rhythm. They camped in the final third and pulled the strings from the opening tip. The crowd was into it straight away.
I remember the twentieth minute clearly — Bakken had run away with it. They were out-thought on the touchline, and Randers' defence simply could not match the pace. The hosts picked one up last week and carried that momentum through.
The numbers told their own story. Bakken shot 39 from 75 on field goals compared to 31 from 67 for the visitors. They grabbed 37 rebounds to 28 and recorded 14 steals against just 3. Randers turned the ball over 19 times, while Bakken managed 15.
To be fair, Bakken had shown vulnerability recently, losing 81-91 to Benfica on their last outing. But they had bounced back with wins over Gladsaxe and Horsens before that. Randers had been in fine form too, beating Birk Academy 117-73 on their most recent game.
We had called for a home win at 63 per cent confidence, and the result vindicated that assessment. And here's the thing — Bakken were simply the better team across every phase of play. The margin reflected the quality difference, not luck.
The victory kept Bakken top of the table with 20 wins from 22 games. Randers remained in fourth place with 16 victories and 6 defeats. The gap between them was now clear, and the league structure was settling into place.
