Boise and Corpus Christi played out a goalless draw in the USL League One Group Stage on Saturday evening. The match, held on 2 August 2026, ended 0:0 between two sides with very different positions in the table. The hosts sit fifth with 41 points from 24 games, while the visitors are ninth with 30.
And here's the thing — the game was decided by discipline rather than creativity. J. Keaney picked up a yellow card in the thirteenth minute, followed by J. Talbot fifteen minutes in. Bowen and Mayaka also received cautions before the break, with Bowen's booking arriving at twenty-one minutes and Mayaka's at thirty-seven. By then it was clear neither side wanted to lose the contest.
The second half brought a flurry of changes. Ricketts came on for Boise in the sixty-first minute, Adams at sixty-eight, Thomas at seventy-three, and Pondeca at eighty-two. Medina completed the visitors' substitutions with a late entry at ninety-four minutes. The final whistle came with a late booking for Dietrich at ninety-five minutes, adding to the sense of a match that had grown tight.
Neither side created enough to test the other's goalkeeper, which is fair comment when you consider the five substitutions each manager made. Both coaches seemed to be managing the game rather than chasing a result, and with the table spread as it is, a point was probably acceptable for both.
The result leaves Boise fifth, two points clear of the visitors in ninth. Both teams have played 24 games now, and the gap between them remains twelve points — a margin that suggests the group stage is still wide open for anyone willing to climb.
