Bolívar — Monagas SC: 1:3, Copa Venezuela

Monagas beat Bolivar 3-1 in the first round of the Venezuelan Cup, Group E, on 26 August 2026. The visitors took control early and never looked back, closing out a comfortable victory away from home.

And here's the thing — the opening moment came at the half-hour mark, when D. Fuentes tapped in for Bolivar. It was their only real chance to get back into the game, and they never quite managed it.

Monagas responded quickly. E. Farias found space and put them ahead at 58 minutes, and by then the visitors had changed the shape of the match. Bolivar sat deeper but couldn't stem the pressure.

A. Romero extended the lead at 73 minutes, and another goal followed soon after at 77. The hosts had possession but couldn't get in behind, while the visitors kept their composure.

To be fair, the numbers tell a simple story. Bolivar held 51 per cent of possession but only managed three shots on target from 13 attempts, while Monagas hit five out of twelve. They didn't need more than that.

The result leaves Monagas top of the group with nine points from three games, and Bolivar sitting fourth with just one point. The visitors have extended their unbeaten run, and Bolivar have hit a wall.
