Copa Venezuela 2026/27

The Copa Venezuela serves as the primary national cup competition in Venezuelan football. Organised by the Venezuelan Football Federation, it operates parallel to the league pyramid rather than determining the national champion. The tournament is distinct from the Supercopa de Venezuela, which is a single-match contest between the league and cup winners.

Unlike the league structure, the cup is open to clubs from both the top two tiers: the Primera División and the Segunda División. The format has evolved significantly over time. Recent editions have featured group stages with varying team numbers, followed by knockout rounds. In 2025, the knockout stage reverted to a two-legged format. Success in the competition qualifies the winner for the Copa Sudamericana and the Supercopa de Venezuela.

Historically, the competition has faced interruptions. There was a long hiatus from 1996 to 2006, and more recent cancellations occurred in 2020–2021 and 2022–2023 due to organisational crises and the pandemic. The 2024 edition marked a return after a five-year hiatus, featuring 30 teams in 10 groups of three. The current champion is Universidad Central, which won the 2025 edition by defeating Carabobo FC on penalties after a 0-0 aggregate draw in the final.

Caracas FC and Deportivo Galicia are the most successful clubs in the competition's history, each having won the trophy five times. Caracas FC secured victories in 1987, 1993, 1994, 2009, and 2013. Deportivo Galicia claimed titles in 1966, 1967, 1969, 1979, and 1981. Deportivo La Guaira won the 2024 edition. The competition has undergone various name changes over the decades, including Copa IND, Copa Liga Mayor, Copa Naciones, Copa Caracas, and Copa Bicentenario.
