OSS ended their three-match losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Jong Utrecht in the Eerste Divisie on Friday evening. The hosts took the lead through Marcelencio Esajas in the fifteenth minute and held firm until a late Jerayno Hunte strike forced a final flurry. Both sides were level at 2-1 for the closing minutes before the home side held on for what proved to be their first point of the campaign.
Esajas opened the scoring before Utrecht could settle, with Franslyn Nsingi picking up a yellow card shortly after. The visitors responded well and earned a substitution at the interval when Nana Gyamfi-Amoah came on. Oss' head coach then shuffled his back line at the break, bringing on Mert Erkan, Richard van der Venne and Nsingi himself. Maurilio de Lannoy doubled the hosts' advantage in the sixty-fifth minute, and the match looked settled until Hunte's eightieth-minute equaliser.
The numbers told a different story than the result. Utrecht enjoyed 55 per cent possession and registered 117 attacks to Oss's 74, yet their shot accuracy sat at just 28 per cent with only five on target. Oss were more clinical with a 42 per cent success rate and seven corners to six. The hosts made four substitutions compared to three from the visitors, and both sides received a single yellow card each.
The win lifts Oss off the bottom of the table to 16th place on three points after four games, with three defeats and a goal difference of -11. Jong Utrecht remain rooted at 20th with five losses from five matches and zero points, having lost 1-6 to Heracles and 1-3 to Vitesse in their previous outings. The result ends a run of three straight defeats for the hosts, who had lost 0-1 to Jong PSV, 0-3 to Volendam and 1-2 to NAC Breda.
