Mladost DG and Petrovac played out a 0-0 draw in the First League's fourth round on Saturday evening. Neither side could break through, despite both teams registering shots on target. The result keeps both clubs in their current positions, though it does little to settle any questions about form.
And here's the thing about this match — it was never going to be open. Yellow cards came thick and fast after the break. A. Cepic and S. Arambasic were booked in the first half of the second period, followed by M. Merdovic and an unnamed Petrovac player at 63 minutes. By then, substitutions were beginning to flood the pitch, with five changed in quick succession between the 58th and 85th minutes.
Petrovac held 55 per cent possession and registered 85 attacks, yet managed only two shots on target. Mladost DG had 45 per cent of the ball but fired three attempts at goal. To be fair, both sides wasted what they had — five shots off target between them suggests chances went begging rather freely.
The standings now show Petrovac on six points from five games, sitting fifth, while Mladost DG remain on four points in tenth place. Neither result shifts anything dramatically, though Petrovac's unbeaten run of three matches includes this stalemate.
Mladost DG have not won since their 2-1 victory over Otrant-Olympic on 2 August. They'll need the points badly if they want to climb away from the bottom half. Petrovac, meanwhile, have kept three clean sheets on the spin — this one included — and may yet find their rhythm.
